Connecting with Students: Classroom Culture and Management

Every classroom develops a culture, whether or not anyone plans it. Here, we examine how faculty decisions about structure, language, and response shape whether students ask questions, take risks, and learn from one another. Drawing on research into classroom climate, belonging, and the hidden curriculum, we’ll look at how to make unspoken rules visible from day one and practice concrete approaches that build intellectual curiosity. This session connects closely to our needs assessment workshop and our growth mindset deep dive.
