WOU Fight Hunger Games

The WOU Fight Hunger Games is a 12-hour gaming marathon and food drive for the WOU Food Pantry, which serves all of Monmouth and Independence.
DATE: Saturday, March 7, 2026 TIME: 9am to 9pm. You do not have to stay the whole time, and you may come and go.
LOCATION: The Werner University Center (the WUC) in the heart of Western Oregon University, at the corner of Monmouth Ave N and Church St.
ATTENDEES: This event is open to WOU students and members of the Monmouth and Independence communities (but anyone that wants to make a donation can join us!) Community guests will be asked to sign a waiver. Attendees 17 years old or under must come with an adult.
ADMISSION FEE: A donation of non-perishable food! It can be any amount from a can to a car full, but we hope for an average of one shopping bag worth per attendee. Our goal is to raise 2,000 lbs, a full TON of food. WOU students can participate for free but a donation is strongly encouraged.
DONATE AND PLAY: If you would like to play games, you can bring your food donation to the check-in counter at the west end of the WUC.
DONATE ONLY: If you don’t want to play games but still want to donate, you can drop off your donation at our drop-off station. Take Church St and look for the canopy at the western end of the WUC. There will also be a QR code you can scan to make donations with a credit card.
FOOD FOR ATTENDEES: We will have snacks and drinks for attendees at no cost. There are also off-campus restaurants within walking distance of the WUC.
COSPLAY: Judge not! We won’t be holding a competition, just a celebration of cosplay with a Cosplay Runway. Please no realistic weapons or items that could be used as weapons. Your cosplay does not have to be game related. PARKING: Parking is free for the length of this event, meaning vehicles will not be required to purchase a permit but must follow all other parking rules.
PLANNING: If you would like to be on our planning committee, the first meeting will be in the Calapooia Room in the WUC on Tuesday, January 6 from 4 to 5 pm.
VOLUNTEERS: If you would like to volunteer for a two-hour shift, go to our Fight Hunger Games Information and Interest Form. There will be volunteer positions at the check-in desk, at the food drop-off station, helping with setup, teardown or game operation, or monitoring a room. If you have any questions, please email our event coordinator, Ed Webb, at webbew@mail.wou.edu. You DO NOT have to be GOOD at playing games to participate! You just have to like playing games and helping people. ?
